The Story Behind the Blue
Jay Blue Design was born from two things: a lifelong love of creating, and a name that carries meaning.
Jay — short for Jason — is a designer and builder with 20 years of experience creating signs, graphics, and things that last. Blue was his dad's favourite colour, a man who loved baseball — the Toronto Blue Jays are our team — and the blue jays that frequent our property north of Toronto felt like they belonged to him too. When Jay's father passed away from cancer, that blue became more than a colour — it became a reminder of why the work matters.
Today, Jay Blue Design is a creative workshop in Moonstone, ON — where two decades of design experience meets woodworking, large format printing, laser cutting & engraving, and handcrafted builds made to order. From custom signs and wood décor to banners, stickers and everything in between, everything that leaves this shop is made with intention. With a new son at home and a fresh chapter ahead, Jay Blue Design is built on something simple — doing great work, by hand, with purpose.
Why a Blue Jay?
The blue jay is one of nature's most distinctive birds — bold, recognizable, and impossible to ignore. That's exactly what Jay Blue Design strives to be. Native to this area and a frequent visitor to our property, the blue jay holds a deeper meaning too. Many believe the blue jay carries messages from those we've lost — a comforting presence, a reminder that they're still watching over us. For Jay, the bird is a daily reminder of his dad, and the standard he holds his work to. Distinctive. Purposeful. Made to be remembered.
